Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, I am pleased to welcome you to Barcelona, Spain, for the 2016 International Beam Instrumentation Conference IBIC 2016.

IBIC is a fruitful and successful gathering of the world's beam instrumentation community and it reflects the maturity of international collaboration in the field of beam instrumentation for accelerators. IBIC is dedicated to exploring the physics and engineering challenges of beam diagnostic and measurement techniques for particle accelerators worldwide. The conference program will include tutorials on selected topics, invited and selected talks, as well as poster sessions. An industrial exhibition and a tour to the ALBA Synchrotron will also be included.

IBIC 2016 is hosted by the ALBA Synchrotron, the Spanish 3rd generation light source, in operation since 2012. This large scientific infrastructure provides more than 5.000 hours of beam time per year. ALBA is available for the academic and the industrial sector, serving more than 1.000 researchers every year.

The venue is the World Trade Center, set right on the Barcelona harbor (Port Vell), in the heart of the city and surrounded by a wide offer of hotels and restaurants.

Barcelona, capital of Catalonia, located in the North East of Spain, is one of the leading technological centers of south Europe, in addition of being one of the most exciting cities worldwide, with wonderful cultural heritage, amazing nights and alive city beaches.
